WORK+SHELTER is based in Chicago and is a social enterprise that creates jobs for women in need and delivers high quality, sewn products to clients in the US, Europe, and Australia. With nearly 30 employees in India, we are looking for support to scale our production and sales efforts with the goal of growing the number of women we employ even further.

The position begins as soon as possible and entails travel as well as some work outside of US business hours. Travel to India 1-2 times per year for 1-3 months may be required, depending on organizational needs. The employee will have access to the company apartment during travel abroad as well as other living expenses.

That is the nature of start-ups, and despite being open for over five years, W+S is still growing. As a Client and Production Manager you will be responsible for interfacing with clients in the US and abroad and working with our production team in India to ensure orders are properly processed and delivered.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is able to navigate the complex space between a people-focused, social-good organization and a fast-paced business. This person must be able to move the organization forward with modest resources, ensuring that all aspects of the Client Management process are handled effectively. This could include such Legal and Financial concerns as contracting and invoicing, while also keeping track of Operations/Production milestones.
What you will do:
- Client Management (70%)
This role entails overseeing orders as they come in, including communicating all production details to the production team. The goal is to ensure that clients are extremely happy with their experience with WORK+SHELTER and that projects are delivered on time and under budget.
- Sales support (10%)
The sales support portion of this role is in support of the CEO including drafting emails, building PowerPoint decks, responding to quick-response requests, generating invoices and other related activities.
- Operational Improvements (10%)
Working with the US Sales team and Indian Production team to ensure handoff between the two groups is happening efficiently and documented appropriately.
- Leadership Administrative Tasks (10%)
Participate as a member of the Leadership Team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability travel to India 1-2 times per year for 1-3 months.
- Strong troubleshooting, negotiating, and delegation skills.
- Ability to develop and mentor a high-performing team.
- Solid technical skills with advanced Excel experience.
- Ability to utilize and maintain a strategic organizational perspective.
